I used to think that the Bush administration was the single most incompetent organization on Earth. While that may still be true, the folks at Blogger are certainly giving them a run for the money.
Yesterday a number of Blogger sites were mistakingly labeled as spam sites, including mine. The problem apparently began late Thursday and lasted all through yesterday. While people were able to view the sites in question, the site owners were blocked from making any new posts.
When you sign in to your Blogger account and look below the list of your blogs, there's a section where the powers that be talk about recent features or known issues. So did they bother to address the spam site issue? Not until sometime late in the day. And given the magnitude of the problem, you would think someone would have addressed the situation sooner. Instead, much like Bush on 9/11, the Blogger folks just kept sitting while first graders read them The Pet Goat.
I understand that glitches happen. Hell, just the other day I was walking down the sidewalk when I stepped in a pile of dog glitch. But when they do happen, you should move quickly to address the issue. That includes letting your customers know that you know there is a problem, and that you're frantically working to resolve it.
Once you've reassured your clients--or at least given them the impression you give a crap--THEN you can keep sitting there with baited breath to see what happens to the stupid goat.
